What's FIRST?
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)
is an organization founded by the inventor Dean Kamen in 1989. His mission was to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders. The organization created the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), the FIRST LEGO League (FLL), and the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) competition exactly for this purpose. These competitions develop engineering and technology skills, leadership, communication, and inspire innovation.
Our team has been participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2005. Each year we look forward to the announcement of this year's challenge at the KickOff. Then, we have 6 weeks to plan, prototype, CAD and build our robot.
Mission
"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes."
